child abuse awareness month
“If we don’t stand up for children, then we don’t stand for much.” Marian Wright Edelman
Every April, the Regional Child Advocacy Center (RCAC) leads community-wide efforts in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month. Through events, outreach, and symbolic displays, we aim to raise awareness, encourage prevention, and honor the children and families we serve.
Go Blue Day
Held on the first Wednesday of April, Go Blue Day is a visual show of support for victims of child abuse. We invite schools, businesses, organizations, and community members to wear blue to stand in solidarity and bring awareness to the issue of child abuse.
Blue Sunday Day of Prayer
Held on the last Sunday of April, the Regional CAC requests all churches take time during their services to pray for children and families affected by abuse and the professionals who help them. It’s a moment of collective compassion, reflection, and hope.
Pinwheel Gardens
During April, pinwheels are planted at the courthouses of Clarke, Washington, and Choctaw counties. Each pinwheel represents a child who was served by the Regional CAC in the previous fiscal year — a powerful reminder of both the impact of abuse and the support available.
Social Media Outreach
We share prevention tips and awareness messages on our Facebook page to help parents, caregivers, and community members protect children and foster safe environments.
